Collision between an empty passenger train and a railway crane
On Tuesday 12 March 2024, at around 11.20pm, an empty passenger train collided with a railway crane at Belsele on track A of line 59. As a result, the passenger train derailed. Another passenger train, travelling on track B of line 59 and carrying 48 passengers, performed an emergency braking. A collision was narrowly avoided. As a result of this accident, both track A and track B of line 59 remained out of service for more than 6 hours.
