Train mistakenly shunted onto an occupied track

On Thursday 20 August, at about 2 p.m., at the Pelikaan fan of sidings in the Zeebrugge marshalling yard, a freight train was mistakenly shunted during an RMI/VRG (Contact person Responsible for Shunting Infrastructure Manager) operation onto a track on which wagons from a previous RMI/VRG operation were already parked. An emergency braking prevented a collision and no one was injured. As a result of this incident, no traffic was possible to and from the fan of sidings for an hour.
